Getting to Fushifaru
Fushifaru is located in the Lhaviyani Atoll which is only a short seaplane ride away from the main airport in Malé. We had a direct flight from Dubai to Malé which was about 4 hours. We were greeted by a staff member from Fushifaru at the airport as soon as we got our luggage. All you have to do is give them your flight information by email prior to arriving. Once you meet, your guide will check your luggage for the seaplane flight and take you to the terminal. From there you will board the seaplane for a quick 35-minute flight to Fushifaru. Make sure to enjoy the incredible views on the way!
It is important to note that Seaplane transfers only operate during daylight. Because of this, your arrival flight must arrive in the Maldives between 6:00am and 3:45pm and your departure flight must depart between 9:00am and 3:00pm. If your flight is outside of these hours you can either spend the night in Malé and take a seaplane to Fushifaru the next morning, or take a domestic flight to the new Madivaru Airport in the Lhaviyani Atoll! With this option, you can fly from Malé to Madivaru beyond daylight hours in 25 minutes and then take a 15-minute speedboat to Fushifaru.
The Rooms at Fushifaru
Premium Pool Water Villa
We stayed in the Premium Pool Water Villa which was absolutely magnificent. This is one of their more expensive rooms but it was so worth it. These villas include a private plunge pool, hammock, cabana bed and bathtub in the bathroom looking out to the gorgeous ocean view. If your fortunate enough to make the trip to the Maldives, I would highly recommend splurging on this room!
Other Villas
They also have additional Water Villas such as the Jacuzzi Villa and the Pool Water Villa, and a variety of Beach Villas to choose from which also looked magnificent. Either way, you can’t go wrong.
The Food at Fushifaru
Korakali
I can’t say enough great things about the food at Fushifaru. We ate at the Korakali restaurant every day and never got sick of it. It’s a buffet style restaurant right on the beach with beautiful views and sounds of the ocean waves. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and every dinner is inspired by a different culture’s cuisine. The options were endless so there’s something for everyone to enjoy. We went back up and filled our plates at least 4 times every night, ha! We had the bed & breakfast plan so the only meal that we didn’t have to pay for was breakfast, but they offer all-inclusive plans as well.
Fanihandi Bar
Fanihandi is the main bar located right behind the pool. They offer a wide-variety of drinks and cocktails as well as light bar bites. They offered 50% off drinks every night from 5:30-6:30pm for happy hour and it was the perfect place to watch the sunset. There is also a pool table and plenty of lounge chairs to watch the nightly entertainment. Every night at Fushifaru they have something going on at the Fanihandi Bar such as karaoke, live music, cultural shows, game night and more!
Raakani
Raakani is Fushifaru’s fine-dining restaurant which is also located on the beach. They offer fresh fish of the day, meat and seafood platters. They even had a surf-and-turf night while we were there, which I believe they do once a week!
Teppanyaki
Teppanyaki is Fushifaru’s Japanese restaurant which includes a live cooking show, similar to a Hibachi grill.
Thundi
Thundi is a cute pop-up like van that was located right on the beach near our villa. They offer fresh fruit and juices, ice cream, healthy snacks, coconuts, and even cocktails.
In-Villa Dining
What’s better than eating in the comfort of your own villa? There are many services to choose from for in-villa dining but we opted for the floating breakfast which I highly recommend! It was a delicious platter of breakfast foods such as fruit, pastries and even omelettes and hash browns situated on a floating Maldivian Dhoni.
Excursions at Fushifaru
Like I mentioned, there’s something to do for everyone at Fushifaru! We did the Movie under the stars and the Turtle Quest. I have always wanted to snorkel with turtles so when I saw they had the Turtle Quest I was so excited. We took a 20 minute boat ride from the resort to another island where they often spot them. As always, it’s not guaranteed to see any turtles but we ended up seeing 3! It was amazing. The Movie under the stars was also a great excursion and was the perfect way to wind down our day.
Some other excursions Fushifaru offers are a Romantic Beach dinner or sundowner with champagne, multiple watersports options, Catamaran excursions, Manta or Dolphin Quests, a Local island experience, and Sunset Cruises. All of these can be arranged for an extra cost once you get to the resort. There is also snorkeling around the island of course. You can rent free snorkel gear from the dive center and hold onto it for the duration of your stay! We did a lot of snorkeling and got lucky enough to see a turtle and a group of eagle rays right by our villa. We even saw a few reef sharks but unfortunately (or fortunately?) we weren’t snorkeling when we saw those.
One last thing worth mentioning is the private photo shoot you can book. They have multiple photography packages you can choose from ranging from $250 to $650. We did the cheapest package which included 30 minutes and 25 photos, which all turned out amazing! I’m so happy we decided to get this photoshoot and I highly recommend it.
Amenities at Fushifaru
The Diving Center
Fushifaru has it’s own diving center as well where you can arrange diving excursions. You can dive on the island and there are multiple dive sites in the Lhaviyani Atoll they can take you to. You can even get scuba certified here too!
The Underwater Playground
The underwater playground is one of the things that makes Fushifaru so unique. As your snorkeling around the island I’m sure you’ll run into it as it’s not hard to find. They have 2 different swings underwater that say FUSHIFARU above them as well as a bike. They even have restored coral around them to attract more fish and repopulate the reef. Such a cool thing to see!
The Sandbank
Another excursion you can book at Fushifaru is a visit to their private sandbank, which is another amenity that makes Fushifaru so unique. The sandbank is less than 5 minutes away by boat and you’ll have the whole thing to yourself! We booked the private picnic which was a beautiful set up right on the white sand beach with a light lunch and either juices or beer. I couldn’t believe how beautiful the sand and ocean water looked from over here. It was amazing. You can also book a private dinner or even an overnight stay at the sandbank.
The Pool and Beach
If you aren’t up to an adventure the pool and beach are the perfect places to relax and hangout. The infinity pool overlooking the ocean is right in front of the bar so it’s the perfect place to grab a drink and relax. You can also access the beautiful beach right there which also has sun beds set up to relax on.
The Heylkhi Spa and Gym
Can’t forget the spa! This is another amazing place to relax at Fushifaru, when you arrive it almost feels like you’re entering a jungle. There is a whole menu of services to choose from, such as massages, scrubs, facials, pedicures, manicures and even hair and makeup services. They also have wellness activities, yoga, meditation and floral bath experiences! (You can get a romantic bath set up in your room if you would like as well). And as if that wasn’t enough, there is also a plunge pool and cabanas to relax at after your massage.
And if you feel like working out, Fushifaru has an air-conditioned gym over looking the beautiful beach as well as a tennis court.
Visiting 5.8 Undersea Restaurant
Fushifaru is not far from one of the Maldives famous underwater restaurants, the 5.8 Undersea Restaurant located at Hurawalhi Island Resort. This resort is also located in the Lhaviyani Atoll and is only a 10-minute speedboat ride away. If you are interested in dining here you can let Fushifaru know via email and they will arrange everything, including the speedboat transfer which was an additional cost. Getting here and dining here was definitely pricey but I’m glad we did it as it’s a once in a lifetime experience.
Overall, Fushifaru Maldives is the perfect place to unwind and relax. It truly felt like paradise on earth and I hope you will get to experience it too! Click here to organize your stay 🙂
